Good morning, Monk. I don't know the motivation behind the quote about editing one's memories, but the quote causes me to wonder about the way our memories may be edited by the media as it analyzes and comments on the election of Barack Obama. Blogs responding to media presentations demonstrate the vast array of interpretations and opinions of readers and viewers.
**** This morning as I read Charles Krauthammer's op-ed, I thought of you, particularly as I read the final sentence: "He [McCain] will be remembered — and he deserves to be remembered — as the most worthy presidential nominee ever to be denied the prize."

It is the wording--"most worthy presidential nominee ever to be denied the prize." I have to think about "worth presidential nominees." He does not qualify his comment with a party designation. Thus Republican, Democrat, Independent, and other party candidates might be considered.
I think of Edmund Muskie, but he did not get past the primaries. Adlai Stevenson may be one to consider. Could we consider Hubert Humphrey?
I wonder whom Krauthammer considered when he wrote his concluding statement.
